INTRODUCTION TO BASIC ELECTRIC INSTALLATION AND ITS SAFETY

ISTTS once again held a Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) season 7 episode 4 entitled "Introduction To Basic Electric Installation and its Safety", presented by Mr. Setya Ardhi, S.T., M.Kom. This webinar takes place on Wednesday, 18 November 2020 from 13.00 to 15.00. The KSP which was held through the Zoom platform was attended by external and internal ISTTS participants, both students and lecturers.
Currently, there are many human needs that depend on electricity, especially the need for the kitchen, such as the use of refrigerators and microwaves which consume quite a lot of power. Especially in the current condition which results in many activities being carried out online such as schools and office activities, it will increase the increase in electricity consumption. Pak Setya said that the case of an increase in electricity rates which was busy was due to an increase in electricity consumption. Pak Setya also gave a glimpse of the basic electricity tariff groups and electricity distribution diagrams.
When we are going to pay the cost of using electricity, we need to know how to calculate the correct electricity rate. Pak Setya explained that there are 3 ways to calculate electricity rates. First, we have to know the type of electricity tariff for a residence, whether it is included in 900 VA, 1300 VA or even more. The second checks the furniture that requires electricity and the last calculates the electricity tariff per day.
The material is then continued with an introduction to electricity, such as voltage, electric current, electric charge, and the comparison. Pak Setya also introduced basic electrical installations and requirements as well as sources of electricity such as AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current). He provides an overview of how to install electrical installations at home, starting from material preparation to installation in electrical outlets.
At the end of the material he reminded about the dangers of electricity and how the process of electric shock occurs. The need for safeguards and safety standards in handling electricity is applied to prevent and reduce the fatal consequences of electrical hazards. The seminar then ended with a question and answer session and sharing between participants and resource persons regarding electricity and then ended with taking a group photo.
