The Knowledge Sharing Program Season 10 Episode 4 which was held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 invited Mr. Iwan Chandra, S.Kom, M.Kom as resource persons. This webinar, entitled Optimize and Boost Your Wireless Network, explains the basic concepts of how we can maximize wireless networks.
This webinar begins with a brief introduction about Wi-Fi by Mr. Iwan. He explained that Wireless Fidelity or what is often referred to as Wi-Fi is a wireless communication that uses waves and frequencies to exchange information. The explanation of wireless technology continues with a discussion of Wi-Fi parameters. Pak Iwan explained that the parameters include frequency or band, standard or mode, and channel. He then revealed a number of facts related to the topic, such as high Wi-Fi frequencies that can affect the number of channels that can be used and that a wide channel width can lead to a large data rate, but the resulting range tends to be not large.
The webinar session then continues with an in-depth understanding of Wi-Fi device selection. Pak Iwan said that in choosing the device to be used, it is important to know the needs and the client first. He then explained a number of priorities that can be considered in choosing a device. The first is the wireless type or standard. Mr. Iwan explained that prospective buyers are required to see the type that suits their needs. The second thing to note is Gigabit Ethernet because the Ethernet input will have an impact on the resulting bandwidth. Third, the data rate and number of antennas. It should be noted that in fact, the number of antennas has an effect on the data rate. Mr. Iwan said that for high data rate needs, prospective buyers could consider installing more antennas. The fourth priority is the processor. According to his explanation, the processor will affect the concurrent users, namely the number of users who can connect to the device at a time. Finally, he said that the budget is no less important as a consideration in choosing the right device.
Furthermore, Mr. Iwan shared information that prospective buyers need to know the use of types of wireless devices, such as Access Point which only has one ethernet port and functions to convert signals from UTP into wireless waves and Wireless Router which has routing, firewall, NAT, and other functions. distribute DHCP. In addition, he also mentioned some tips to maximize coverage, namely by planning the topology carefully before implementation because according to him, planning is an important thing before implementation.
